Navicular Open (Unclipped)
Characteristics: The Navicular Open shoe features a "Long Shape" design—longer and narrower than standard models. It is engineered with a smooth bevel along its contour to assist in rolling. Its standout feature is the "heel wedge" (rocker) with front and rear bevels, which shifts the break-over point toward the quarters, anticipating the break-over (the rolling movement over the toe at the start of the swing phase).
The sole relief prevents direct contact between the shoe and the hoof sole, preventing sole sensitivity. Additionally, the steel insert provides excellent abrasion resistance and reduces wear in the toe area.
Biomechanical and Therapeutic Effects: This shoe presents a balanced structure that helps distribute the horse's weight evenly, reducing joint pressure. The wedge and bevels allow the animal to self-balance, helping them find the most comfortable position during the static phase. During the dynamic phase, the wedge shifts the break-over point closer to the center of the joint, facilitating the break-over and significantly relieving pressure on the navicular bone.
