Straight Heart Bar Narrow Wedge (Clipped)
Characteristics and Biomechanical Effects: This shoe features a heart-shaped rear surface, widely known as a Heart Bar. This bar is specifically designed to provide protection and support to the frog (the V-shaped region of the hoof). The wedge angle elevates the heels, allowing for the correction of the palmar angle.
Engineered with front, lateral, and medial bevels, it promotes rolling in all directions. The sole relief prevents direct contact between the shoe and the hoof sole, protecting against sole sensitivity. The clips (guarda-cascos) ensure superior fixation and stability on the hoof, while the steel insert provides excellent abrasion resistance and minimizes wear in the toe area.
Therapeutic Effects: It shifts the weight-bearing surface to the rear of the hoof, with the heart bar providing optimal load distribution. Due to its wedged design, it enables the correction of the palmar angle. It supports the distal phalanx (P3) and significantly reduces pressure in the toe region.
Indications:
-
Chronic phase of Laminitis (return to physical activity), specifically in cases requiring palmar angle correction.
-
Transferring the support area to healthy regions of the hoof in cases of wall lesions or defects (e.g., quarter cracks or "slipper toe" / long toe).
